Personalized Songs SEO Project

May 12th, 2006 · No Comments

Orange County Singer KC came to me with a dilemma. He has several albums worth of music he wants to publish, but lacks the capital to get his music off the ground. So he asked me to help him find a way to earn the money online. My suggestion was to offer personalized songs for Internet users.

Before long, You Write It I Sing It was live and KC began to get requests for custom music, lyrics and entire songs via his new website: www.youwriteitisingit.com. Visit KC’s site to download samples of his music, see a photo of the singer, and get information about his service.

My next step was to do the SEO work. Well, I used a CMS on this project (Content Management System), so right from the beginning I knew this wouldn’t be organic SEO. So if it’s not organic, how can I market it? Easy: Link Development.

So I pulled out my best practices list (also found in my eBook) and did everything I could to his one page of content, including modifying the meta tags and description. Then I measured the keyword density to make sure I had three keywords for every hundred words of text. Not too much else I could with the CMS at that point.

So it was time to start developing links, and what better way than to post this article at SteveWiideman.com and include a link at the top to KC’s new site. I’ve added my blog to nearly every site on my Blog List, so I expect that by June, KC will be extremely pleased with his ranking, when you search for “personalized songs”.
