The following is a paid review of the ShoeMoney Blog. If you’d like me to review your site, please visit ReviewMe.com and sign up as an advertiser.
So I bounce on to the website ShoeMoney.com expecting to see a photo of Al Bundy with his pockets inside out and instead I see language about Google, SERP’s, and general search marketing topics. Then I read some paragraphs relating to ringtones and several other random topics. I’m left confused about what this blog’s overall purpose is. Though I did enjoy several of the posts on AdSense.
Usability is extremely important to me. And although the owner has done a magnificent job building PageRank, there is definitely room for improvement in the overall layout, colors and in particular theme consistency. Below is a screenshot of their website before I click on SERPS Tool:

I’m a huge lover of SEO/SEM tools, so I looked forward to seeing what this SERP’s tool had to offer. When I clicked the link in the nav the tool showed up, but the UI disappeared:

The actual tool above was pretty cool. Just as my own reports tell me, my SEO Expert web page is #10 on Google, floating all over the place (as ususual) on MSN and being discriminated against in Yahoo! because I haven’t forked up my $299 for their directory (yet).
Since there was no navigation to help me navigate back to ShoeMoney, I hit my browser’s back button and continued to review the website. I still don’t know who’s writing the blog so I waste 20 minutes reading through archives, Rec’s, and so forth and found nothing but a cool photo with this mystery man and Paris Hilton (nice). So I went to Google and searched for “owner of shoemoney.com” and found Mr. Jeremy Shoemaker blogged about on Karate Brothers. Whatever.
So Jeremy appears to work for some company called Pepper Jam Search, but isn’t listed on their About Us Page - so who knows. So other than the tool and ramblings of misc. search and ringtone related content, what’s my incentive to return? Who is Jeremy and why does he keep his identity such a secret?
I think with a little refinement, a possible UI refresh, and potentially a few more SEO Tools, this site may be able to retain a few RSS syndications. However, as saturated as the SEO market is getting, it might be best to spend more time building the PepperJamSearch company than spending a lot of time on a personal web blog; just my opinion anyway. But what do I know, I only have a PR4, not a PR6 like ShoeMoney.com.
I’ll have to check back in a month or two, truth be known, I’m still left a bit intrigued.
